Some Leadership Qualities in My Little Boy

This story is about my little boy. He was kind of funny as a tyke in that he loved to memorize hotel and motel signs. He was a little funnier when he wanted to watch the same shows over and over.

Then at two he got onto Ў Ѓ 593N/90A my computer and ordered me a printer! I still have the printer in the box because I intend to give it to him when he is older and can appreciate the story of purchasing the printer from AOL.

He took an immediate liking to the computer and would stay on it until Best K 24 GRAFITE he was made to get off it. When I say made that is what I mean! He would never just get tired of it and want to do something else in our home.

Over about a year from two to three years old I noticed he would pay minute detail to objects and follow the clean lines of cars or shelves. I knew there was a potential problem one night when I was working in my office at home and my son walked in and said “Dad, where did you get that book?” I said “what book?” To my surprise he was pointing to a book I had added to my computer books on the second shelf from the top of my left side book shelf.

George, We Hardly Knew Ye

At a conference that I recently attended I overhead two teachers talking. They were discussing a lesson for American History. I inferred they were lower elementary teachers since some of the activities they discussed usually take place in first and second grades.

It was very hard to not wedge myself into their conversation. They were discussing one of our foremost American heroes…George Washington. There are many false stories out there surrounding the man that is remembered as being first in war, first in peace, and slv8- first in the hearts of our countrymen and these two educators had bought into all of them. Yikes!

I guess the reason why their ignorance struck such a cord with me is I began the French and Indian War earlier this week as an introduction to the American Revolution. For my purposes it is not necessary to cover the entire French and Indian War. I hit the causes and the results which is kind of sad because there are several interesting tidbits concerning this time period. I would introduce more information but we do tend to be a bit “standards” anal these days, and time is my enemy. I do feel, however, that if we teach social studies we should take the time to de “myth”isize history.

One of the first things I do is I ask the students Hyundai H-LCD2200 to tell me things about George Washington. Out jot list includes: he’s on the dollar bill, he’s on the quarter, he never told a lie, he cut down a cherry tree, he had wooden teeth, he could throw a silver dollar across a river, he wore a wig, and he was our first president. I take a marker and draw a line through all of the myths leaving only the money facts and the first president fact on our list. They are shocked. “But my mom said….”, “But my teacher said…”

We talk about revisionists (like Disney), we discuss how new information is discovered, and we discuss the motives behind changing history to leave out groups of people. Next Generation Email Marketing

Things go in cycles - we’ve all heard this. Email marketing isn’t new, far from it. It’s been through at least one cycle from being leading edge, to being a trend, to being abused. Many thought that spam filters would reduce the applicability of email marketing. Well, read on, because we’re in the next generation of email marketing - post learning - and the opt-ins are on the increase!

Clean Templates

When it became normal for email clients to read HTML, email marketing seemed to go a bit mad. Some of the newsletters I received were so over engineered it was difficult to see the actual text though the multi-columned, flashing, pointy lookie here, more headline graphics please, layout. They were comparable to those first web sites that had discovered color - and put it everywhere.

The best use of HTML is to promote clarity and readability. The ability to put ugly web links behind text that explains them; to have bullet points or layout that emphasis the points. Such things that help the time poor reader get through the message quickly - and take action.

My own approach in using email marketing is to keep messages short and to the point. Use HTML for clear layout. And in early emails, leave out images and other content that might cause an email client application like Microsoft Outlook, to block t
